It’s All About The Wedding Dress

Wedding dresses in Perth

It’s all about the wedding dress!

The first thought that pops into most bride to be minds as soon as they become engaged is The Wedding Dress.

There is just something so magical about the luxurious fabrics, the flattering cuts, the choice of tulle, lace and all the intricate details that go into creating the perfect dress.

Shopping for your wedding dress in Perth can be one of the most exciting parts of planning for your big day and a moment that a lot of girls dream about!

So we thought who better to ask for some advice on choosing the perfect wedding dress than local wedding dress designer Sandra, the creative behind Elvi Design.

Sandra told us “Every bride wants to feel amazing on their wedding day so it’s natural to start with the search for the dress. It can be an overwhelming mission, with a huge range of options out there and so many things to consider…

What suits me?

Will it be comfortable to wear all day?

Will my partner love it too?”

Sandra suggests enjoying the experience but don’t say yes to anything in the hype of the moment.

Where to begin the search for the perfect wedding dress

Your search for a wedding dress will probably begin with a few bridesmaids or family members in tow… but Sandra suggests you don’t get swept up in the moment and make a rash decision.

Go home and sleep on it! Consider all your options before you say Yes to ‘The Dress’.

More and more brides are getting creative with their wedding dress. Gone are the days of all wedding dresses being white and much the same design and cut.

A recent trend Sandra has noticed is a move towards minimal designs in luxurious silk fabrics.

“We have seen a lot of lace and heavy detailing in previous years, so it’s no surprise brides are now looking for an alternative to this,” Sandra said.

“I would say this return to minimal styling reflects the gowns that brides wore back in the 90s.”

She said you will see brides wearing anything from an elegant bias cut gown with a cowl back in a heavy silk crepe to an epic princess style skirt in a plain silk dupion.

Can I wear my wedding dress again?

“It’s the one time in your life you will spend a considerable amount on a dress or outfit so why not choose a design that you will be able to wear again?” Sandra said, “This also follows in line with the environmental ethos many of us are adopting in our everyday lives.”

And an increasing number of brides are choosing separates rather than a full one piece wedding dress and even more brides are choosing to wear a stylish luxe pant suit.

Finding the right style for you

With all of these ideas in mind, the single most important consideration in choosing your wedding day outfit is finding the right style for you as an individual.

“It’s actually really interesting, deep down we all know what suits us as an individual,” Sandra said, “as a designer the one thing I always ask my clients is ‘what styles do you normally wear?’ and i take it from there.

It is this collaborative process of working with brides that Sandra says is so special about what she does.

“Whatever dress you choose your wedding dress should reflect you on your wedding day… and this sometimes means ignoring all the trends.”

Every wedding outfit is memorable and has it’s own story to tell.

So be confident, be individual, listen to your gut and choose what you feel expresses your personality the most.
